The event and educational programmes at the Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing are very diverse. The focus of the programmes is on activity and the associated experience.

Thanks to the numerous possibilities offered by the cultural and natural landscapes of the museum grounds and their historical buildings, the elements of information, activity and experience can be strongly combined in the educational programmes.

The Austrian Open-Air Museum offers a varied programme of events on the topics of crafts, folk culture and life, everyday life and work in the farmhouse of yesteryear. During the events, these themes are brought to life through activities in the unique surroundings of the historic buildings. the open-air museum is a place where history is brought to life.

Traditional events

The ecclesiastical annual cycle characterised and determined the rural annual cycle and everyday life of the past. The open-air museum has set itself the task of conveying these rural customs to visitors in a practical and authentic way in the special environment of more than 100 historical buildings from all over Austria as part of activities and events.

Theatre, concerts and more

The Austrian Open-Air Museum sees itself as a place where representatives and partners of related and unrelated art forms are guests in Stübing and present themselves in the context of concerts and theatre projects. At these events, the cultural and natural landscape of the museum grounds with its historic buildings is an important part of the production itself.

Guided tours through the museum valley

In addition to the programmes for coach groups and clubs, the Austrian Open-Air Museum offers individual visitors overview tours and special tours on specific topics on certain dates. These use practical examples to tell exciting stories and learn interesting facts about the life, everyday life and work of farmers in the past.

Kids programmes

The Austrian Open-Air Museum offers children and young people numerous opportunities to engage with rural life and work in the past. 
Our young visitors can discover and explore historical knowledge about the life, everyday life and work of the farming population and experience history(ies) in the wide range of activities on offer.

Picnic at the museum

Embark on an exciting journey back in time and then enjoy a picnic with a farmhouse snack in the shade of the historic farmhouses in the midst of the beautiful natural landscape. Find your favourite spot, sit back and listen to the silence and nature in the Valley of History.
