The alpine pasture

Meadows, water and forests are essential components of alpine pastures, which have been managed, protected and preserved by humans for a long time. Alpine pasture farming is one of the oldest forms of utilisation in the Alpine region. Until well into the 19th century, Alpine pasture farming was the pillar of livestock farming.
