The Austrian Open-Air Museum is situated directly at the Murradweg and offers the perfect possibility for taking a break.
Please note: Balance bikes are allowed in the museum grounds, bicycles, skateboards and the like are forbidden!

Since last year the visitor can eat in an historic restaurant traditional meal from the different regions of Austria. The selection of the meal is dependend on the season and the regional products. The restaurant with its unique atmosphere and the special meals offers a particular experience for visitors and their enjoyment. Menu reservation for groups available upon request.

Picnic at the Austrian Open Air Museum Stübing
Enjoy a picnic in the middle of a wonderful natural landscape, in the shadow of historical farmsteads with a peasant’s snack just like in the old days. The picnic basket is the ideal supplement for a family trip or for a romantic outing for two at the Austrian Open Air Museum Stübing.
Reserve your Peasant´s snack in advance either by telephone or at the cash desk at the Museum entrance. While your picnic basket is filled you can discover the Valley of History.
At the inn “Zum Goeller” in the museum valley your picnic basket is all ready and waiting for you.
Find your favourite place, lean back and enjoy the silence and the nature – as well as your delicious peasant’s snack in the Valley of History.

At the entrance the visitors can enjoy handmade sweet dishes, beverages, different types of coffee and snacks for in between. Start your visit in the museum with a regional breakfast with much enjoyment: Breakfast in the café
For groups there are offers for welcome, like Welcome - Schnaps with special bread!
In the shops (Shop at the entrance, grocery in the museum) we offer a great variety of products:
- different locally produces crafts
- products for your home and garden from the past
- traditional clothing like traditional hats
- different kinds of regional food as a present
- books about rural culture, traditions, handicraftS and the natural environment
- traditional games for children
- products for different reasons and seasons
All revenue from the shop goes towards the maintenance of the museum.
In the grocery we offer selected sweets in a historic atmosphere with "Seidenzuckerl, Krachmanderl"!

Assistance dogs are welcome in all of the buildings, park areas and exhibitions of the Universalmuseum Joanneum.
The Folk Life Museum has not been evaluated by CEDOS.
For wheelchair users there is the possibility to be transported by taxi from the train station Stübing or Gratwein at own expense.

Due to its size and terrain, the grounds of the Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing assistance is required for wheelchair users, people with reduced mobility and blind people, as well as visually impaired visitors.
We also point out that the historic buildings themselves are only accessible via gravel roads and access to the buildings with the wheelchair is not barrier-free. Driving on the museum grounds with private cars is not permitted.
The administration building with museum shop and museum café as well as the toilet facilities are barrier-free. The guest house is also wheelchair accessible and has its own disabled toilet.
