One book, three passions: writing, travelling and porcelain. Just as his bestseller The Hare with Amber Eyes proves, Edmund de Waal’s great ability is to intertwine personal experience and history. De Waal has worked with china clay ever since the age of 17 when he got the feel of that material for the first time in Japan. Now, he embarks on a journey in search of the origins of a material that has kindled the imagination of the Western world for centuries.
