Flowers often embody two sexes—perhaps one reason they have become symbols of queerness and intersex. This Sunday morning we present Phoebe Hart’s autobiographical documentary, tracing her journey to reclaim her own story. As a teenager, Hart learns she is intersex, a truth long kept as a family taboo. Following an orchiectomy and years of emotional struggle, she travels across Australia with her sister Bonnie, meeting other intersex people whose experiences expose the ongoing realities of stigma, violence, and pathologisation. Returning home, she hopes that an honest conversation with her mother will finally provide the answers she has been seeking.
