Marit Wolters uses both organic and synthetic materials for the development of hybrid sculptures. In her work she analyses the idea of “natural” and “artificial”. She uses the characteristics of various different building materials that are usually used for the production of architectural elements, in order to experiment with them in the creation process of her works. PU-foam and aerated concrete grow and spread into each other during the process. Just like the artist’s deliberate shape creation, his dynamic and free process is essential for the creation of the final shape. Amidst the “artificially designed nature” of the park, the artist places structures that look like tree-trunks, carrying traces of both organic growth and human design.
