House Rules

Dear visitors!

We are pleased to welcome you at the Universalmuseum Joanneum!
In order to ensure both your personal security and the security of the items exhibited, may we draw your attention to the following regulations:

Park Regulations

When visiting Schloss Eggenberg, Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing and the Austrian Sculpture Park, please observe the park regulations applicable there!

Large luggage

Please deposit items such as umbrellas, rucksacks and bags outside the exhibition area.

Exception Schloss Stainz (Hunting Museum and Agriculture Museum): Please deposit perambulators and buggies as well outside the exhibition area.
Exception Styrian Armoury: All luggage and all bags must not be taken to the exhibition area.

Wet clothing

Wet clothing could cause damage in the sensitive exhibition rooms and is therefore not permitted. In exceptional cases, the management may also ask you to take off thick jackets.

Food and drink

Food and drink is likewise not to be taken into the exhibition area or consumed there.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed at any of the institutions of the Universalmuseum Joanneum.

Exception Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing: Smoking is permitted in dedicated areas of the restaurant.

Animals

With the exception of assistance dogs, no animals may accompany visitors into the exhibition rooms.

Exception Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing: Dogs are welcome in the Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing - please use a bag to collect dog feces. The animals are to be kept in accordance with the legal guidelines for animal husbandry (especially leash duty). All dogs listed in Styria under list dogs ("fighting dogs") must be muzzled within the museum grounds.

Taking photographs and filming

Taking photographs and filming is permitted in our exhibitions solely for private purposes and only without the use of flash and tripod. Pictures taken for publication are only possible if prior permission has been given by the Universalmuseum Joanneum GmbH. For reasons of copyright, we reserve the right generally to prohibit the use of filming and photography in the exhibition area. 

Exception Styrian Armoury: Taking photographs and filming is only possible if prior permission has been given by the Universalmuseum Joanneum GmbH.

Exception State Rooms: Taking photographs and filming in the State Rooms is not permitted.

Recording Events

The Universalmuseum Joanneum GmbH reserves the right to record events in photographic/audiovisual form. Visitors give their express consent that photographs/audiovisual productions taken by them or in connection with the event may be used for museum-specific purposes without them receiving a fee.

Please don't touch!

Exhibits may not be touched. To avoid lesser or greater mishaps, you are asked to keep at a sufficient distance from them.

Peace and quiet in the exhibition rooms

To ensure that all visitors are able to enjoy the exhibitions undisturbed, you are also requested to refrain from making mobile phone calls, or from receiving them. Also, we would kindly ask parents or guardians to keep their children as quit as possible for the greater enjoyment of all.

Liability

Note: parents, guardians and authorized supervisors are responsible for children or pupils in their care.

Breach of regulations

Persons who breach these regulations or do not comply with instructions of the staff can be denied permission to remain in the building. Their entrance ticket loses its validity therewith and the admission charge paid will not be reimbursed. 

Compensation

Compensation will be sought from any person responsible for damage caused by negligence or from the person supervising them. Any event of wilful damage will also be reported to the police.
