Arms and Armour from Imperial Austria

Cleveland (Cleveland Museum of Art), USA, 24.2.-1.6.2008

The exhibition bridges the period from the Duchy of Styria with its capital Graz in the Middle Ages up until the 17th century, and illustrates the history of European warfare in the 16th and 17th centuries. In addition to approximately 100 suits of armour and weapons from the Landeszeughaus, there are also items from the Alte Galerie and the Kulturhistorische Sammlung. The exhibits from Austria are complemented by objects from the CMA collections, thus placing armour, weapons, paintings, artworks and sculpture in a broader social context.
