Landscape Museum Schloss Trautenfels

Upright tree trunks of various species show the composition of a near natural mountain forest. The preserved plant and animal mounts in the showcases demonstrate the complex relationships in a functioning ecosystem. The complex wooden fence, locally known as “Girschtnzaun”, is typical for the area of Western Upper Styria. Here, it separates the “natural” forest from the “Wood Age” area.

Forest and timber, mountain and valley, religion and conviviality – the natural and cultural history of Styria’s Enns Valley, Palten Valley and Aussee lake district form the subject matter of the permanent exhibition at Schloss Trautenfels.
