About the
Event

10 am–6 pm: (re)claiming the space – performative presence during opening hours

5 p.m.: closing performance, followed by after care with drinks and music

‘Because I own my body. My body is not a political playground, it's not a place for legislation, it's mine, and it's my future.’ With her statement during the #Slutwalk protest march in New York in 2018, Samirah Raheem went viral. Bodies that deviate from heteronormative masculinity are a political issue. Still. And above all, more and more. They are an ongoing battlefield of exclusion and patriarchal power struggles.

Not a Playground is a curatorial invitation to local performers to actively appropriate an institutional space that is in transition between two exhibitions on (political) power relations and (female) identity. The immersive performance inscribes itself in this intermediate zone as a feminist negotiation of bodies and power in relation to space.

The performance will take place at Space01 / Kunsthaus Graz. It will also be streamed via livestream on Instagram as a temporary hijacking of the digital toxic space.
