On 11.07., the ‘Day of Reflection and Remembrance’ of the Srebrenica genocide, as declared by the UN General Assembly in 2024, 8372...Never Forget Srebrenica will be displayed on the BIX media façade of the Kunsthaus.
On 11 July 1995, the town of Srebrenica, a UN protection zone in eastern Bosnia, was attacked by troops under the command of Ratko Mladic. Within a few days, they murdered over 8,000 people of Muslim faith in the vicinity of the town.
A project initiated by ge_denken as part of the commemorative year.
ge_denken is a civil society initiative to educate, raise awareness and encourage all citizens of the city of Graz to confront genocide and crimes against humanity. A temporary memorial on the Erzherzog-Johann Bridge serves as a visible sign of remembrance and warning in the commemorative year ‘30 Years of the Srebrenica Genocide’ – in public space and accessible to all.
