The Kunsthaus Needle is a floating glass platform that offers visitors unique views over the historic city centre, the Schloßberg and clock tower. At the same time, it provides fascinating glimpses of the exhibition spaces. The Needle is also often used as an event space or extension of the exhibition area.

The Needle was completed in 2003 together with the Kunsthaus, as part of the project Graz – European Capital of Culture.

The construction of the Needle weighs around 60 tons, highlighting its stability and impressive load-bearing capacity despite the delicate glass architecture.

Dimensions: The roughly four-metre wide and 40-metre long Needle rises 24 metres from the Kunsthaus above the ground, and is integrated perfectly within its surroundings.

Finnegan Shannon's work deals with the topic of accessibility and equal rights for people with disabilities.The development of seating furniture with white, often amusingly provocative lettering indicates that public spaces often forget to provide enough seating. Sitting is democratic. Because seated people are at eye level, relaxed and facing each other.
