About the exhibition

A silvery, melancholic glitter world where time stands still. Mirages, ships and tears have come to rest here, while the world keeps turning. Jennifer Mattes assembles found material from film, music and furnishings into fantastical hybrid figures of abandoned film sets. The filmmaker is winner of the Birgit Jürgenssen Prize (2014) and in 2019 was awarded the Diagonale prize for best innovative film. Her work is woven across the foyer, courtyard and basement of Kunsthaus Graz.

In addition to the exhibition at Kunsthaus, Jennifer Mattes (*1982) is the author of the Diagonale Trailer 2020, which will be shown at Austrian cinemas before and during the Diagonale Film Festival.
