Bernhard Wolf

If you don't give the mind something to do, the mind will give you something to do.

Inner courtyard Kunsthaus Graz

Bernhard Wolf has made an international name for himself as an artist working in public spaces. Here, he uses sunlight to allow visitors to experienc the space in between Kunsthaus and the House of Architecture. Playing with urban sign structures, he transforms a transit area into a place of discovery.

In traffic regulation, tools of information culture are often reminiscent of the tools of omnipresent advertising. Here, Bernhard Wolf does not aim for his interventions in urban spaces to fetishize or manipulate. Making his mark on fire walls, tumbled town buildings and landing stages, he instead breaks with traditional habits of perception. At the same time, these independent, temporary, pictorial amalgamations with architecture often form a trend-setting part of an aesthetic whole.
