Joanneumsviertel
The refurbished museum reopened its doors in the Joanneum Quarter on 26th November 2011, the bicentenary of the Joanneum’s founding.
The historic oldest part of the museum in Raubergasse, a beautiful early Baroque building, houses the Natural History Museum. The remarkable courtyard of the building forms a magical setting every year for leading festivals on the Styrian art and culture scene (i.e. the Styriarte). The neo-Baroque museum building in Neutorgasse provides a new home for the Neue Galerie, Graz. The third constituent of the Joanneumsviertel is the Styrian State Library.
All the buildings are linked via the Visitors’ Centre, which also provides access to the museum shop and events room.
