Joanneum Quarter
The Joanneum Quarter, as a comprehensive cultural center, combines historic museums and library buildings into a modern architectural entity. The historically oldest part of the museum in Raubergasse, a beautiful early Baroque building, houses the Natural History Museum.
The building's remarkable inner courtyards, the large Joanneum Quarter Square and the historic Lesliehof, provide an enchanting setting each year for important festivals of the Styrian art and culture scene. The Neutorgasse neo-Baroque museum building houses the Neue Galerie Graz. As a third pillar, the Joanneum Quarter houses the Styrian State Library.
The visitor center was opened on November 26, 2011 to mark the foundation's anniversary. Its architectural composition creates a link between all the buildings and serves as the entrance with a museum shop and an event hall. The prominent escalators in the centre of the Joanneum Quarter Square lead to the belly and therefore to the starting point of every event and exhibition within this location.
