Grand staircase
The magnificent grand staircase in the central wing of Palais Herberstein, built between 1754 and 1757 by Josef Hueber, is one of the most beautiful Baroque installations in Styria. After passing through the imposing rococo wrought iron grille, the view opens up to the beautiful staircase with its filigree decorations and ornamentation made of sandstone. A quick glance upwards reveals the next highlight; the ceiling frescoes with depictions of Ganymede's ascent to Olympus and the four seasons (1756 by painter Philipp Carl Laubmann). The grand staircase is particularly suitable for festive receptions and photo shoots.
