In the coming year, the Universalmuseum Joanneum will present 25 exhibitions; moreover, it is expanding around the location ‘Animal World Herberstein’, extending its opening hours in Graz and its surroundings, as well as allowing entrance to all visitors under the age of 19 to its museums, starting in the summer holidays.
More information on all projects can be found below.
- Animal World Herberstein becomes part of the Universalmuseum Joanneum, and thus the museum’s 14th location (note: 14 locations, 19 museums and 1 zoo)
- The new management of the Kunsthaus Graz will be determined in 2022 and will take over the running of the museum from 2023 onwards.
- From January 1, 2022 the opening hours will be extended: in future, the Joanneum museums in Graz will always be open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. These opening hours apply to the following museums: Kunsthaus Graz, Joanneumsviertel (with the Neue Galerie Graz (incl. BRUSEUM), Naturkundemuseum and CoSA - Center of Science Activities), History Museum, Styrian Armoury, Schloss Eggenberg (with the Alte Galerie, Archaeology Museum, Coin Cabinet and State Rooms), Folk Life Museum at the Paulustor.
- The Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing is open from 9 am to 6 pm from Monday to Sunday (last admittance: 5 pm).
- From July 9, 2022 – the beginning of the summer holidays in Styria – all visitors under the age of 19 can visit all Joanneum museums free of charge (with the exception of the Animal World Herberstein). Educational tours can be booked separately. School classes are an exception to this: they can make use of one one-hour tour per class visit free of charge. This offer is made to all schools as a basic service, with any additional educational programmes available for booking individually.
