About the
Event
Kunsthaus Graz and Diagonale are once again guests at the Summer Cinema – this time, the film being screened is Yrupẽ (2025) by director Candela Sotos.
Yrupẽ is a poetic essay on memory and a (film) political search for traces. Whilst growing a Yrupẽ flower, director Candela Sotos reconstructs the story of her great-uncle and film pioneer Guillermo Fernández-Zúñiga with the help of letters and archive material, thereby exposing historical concealment and censorship.
The screening will be preceded by an introduction and followed by a discussion with director Candela Sotos and the two Diagonale directors, Claudia Slanar and Dominique Kamalzadeh.
