Rome the Myth
The classical foundations of the Baroque state Schloss Eggenberg
09.05.-04.10.2009
The focus of the exhibition is on the impact of the Roman legacy on political and ethical thinking in the early modern era, particularly with regard to the notion of power that the Habsburg emperor and the Eggenberg family represented.
Paintings, graphic works, sculptures and coins trace the survival of the classical/imperial tradition in the outlook of Renaissance and Baroque princes.
