my own private cinema. Alejandro Jodorowsky
"El Topo" and "The Holy Mountain"
18.10.2011 18:00
Film evening
The evening consists of two films by legendary and charismatic filmmaker, Alejandro Jodorowky, one of the protagonists of The World Of Gimel.
Proclaimed as an exhilarating piece of cinematic insanity, El Topo (1970) is Jodorowsky’s cult western movie and underground film, which narrates in psychedelic sequences of bizarre and shocking imagery a spiritual journey through the unconscious.
El Topo (1970, 124 min, Spanish with English subtitles)
Yet another masterpiece of cinematic oneirism, The Holy Mountain (1973) is regarded as one of the most out-of-control movies ever made. The mystical, the magical and the metaphysical are intertwined in this captivating story of an alchemy – considered to be a film apparatus itself. The Holy Mountain (1973, 113 min, English)
