Video Initiative Graz: Video Lokales Fernsehen, 1975–1983
Lukas Marxt: Solid Interception, 2012

Founded in 1975, “Videoinitiative Graz” is a loose grouping of artists and activists who focus on video’s potential power to change society. “Our aim is to make television with the general population that explores the needs, interests and problems in local and regional areas of life.

The intention is for working people to document their social environment, inspiring debate and change and ultimately stepping outside of their passive role of audience.

With Lukas Marxt, we present a young position that takes as its starting-point a specific perception of nature, visualising this in the technical medium whose process creates it in the first place. The medial arrangement together with the actual experience of the remote location produces the structure of the spectacle of nature - “natura naturans” (Spinoza).
