About the
Event

We are opening a walkable landscape memorial by the artist Milica Tomić. Connecting history, memory and the present, the memorial is located in Aflenz near Leibnitz, at the historical site of a former sub-camp of the Mauthausen concentration camp.

Going forward, the history of the area can be experienced via paths following the camp’s former borders, markings outlining the former barracks and parade ground, as well as special vegetation. The ground itself is made to act as a carrier of memory; an archive which preserves historical traces and uncovers the past.
