In 2026, Alfred Lenz will once again present his banner exhibitions directly along Landstraße 201 in Studenzen. The publicly accessible display on this heavily trafficked road is seen by millions of people over the course of a year. This alternative to the familiar advertising spaces in public areas subtly makes contemporary art visible to everyone in rural areas.
The annual banner exhibition on the L201 is entering its third year:
“Although the four works are quite different in form (painting, photography, painting as a study of nature, and performative photography), there are connecting threads. They all revolve around the relationship between people, infrastructure, landscape, and control. A field of tension emerges between the human-built world and non-human life. All the works depict nature not as an idyllic counterpoint to civilization, but as something that has been shaped, regulated, damaged, or functionalized. Furthermore, one could say that in all these works, the landscape is not merely a backdrop, but an active arena for social relations.”
