The exhibition Julije Knifer. Uncompromising was curated for the Neue Galerie Graz by Radmila Iva Janković from MSU Zagreb. In this online conversation with Monika Holzer-Kernbichler, she gives insights into the background of this show: Who was Julije Knifer and why is he so important in the history of art? What is the meander about, and why does the artist use almost exclusively black and white in his pictures?

Rada Janković discusses the uncompromising nature of his oeuvre and the significance of the anti-image in the radically reduced formal language of his work. We will also be given digital insights into the exhibition in Graz and so into Knifer's extensive body of work from 1950 to the 1990s, as shown in this unique retrospective.

This online talk will be held in English.
