The audio installation I Gong, created by musician and artist Gregor Ladenhauf aka Zanshin and installed in the Chinese Pavilion, brings the I Ching, the Book of Changes, to life through the sound of a gong. Referring to the hexagrams found in the book, a custom-programmed system sets a large gong in motion using multiple electromechanical mallets. New hexagrams are continuously generated and transformed into rhythmic and dynamic values, resulting in an endless composition — a contemplative sound sculpture in constant flux.
