OPEN FIELDS - Art and Agriculture

Reflections on the sensitive and diverse interaction between humans and nature have existed since prehistory in the form of art. The OPEN FIELDS project focuses on essential aspects at the local level, namely those of agriculture in direct contact with art. This meeting of two apparent opposites is to be given space and time in a respectful setting on equal terms and in critical examination.

Nicht-Wissen / Un-Knowing

From an intensive mutual engagement of the artist and researcher Paul Wiersbinski and the farmers Carmen and Stefan Dreier-Zwetti in Pöllau, as well as other people from the region, a multi-layered, open result emerged under the title Un-Knowing.

Working at the interface between art, science and technology, the artist examines and questions different systems. From this exchange about knowledge, the importance and the tolerance of not-knowing and the unknown, a unique performance, video collages and a sensitive and haunting publication called Un-Knowing came into being, raising new questions about larger contexts such as climate change and financial markets, bodies and borders, senses and logic, nature and cybernetics.
