The composer Katharina Klement conducts a guided tour of her sound hiking trail Ecophony – every voice counts. An acoustic soil survey in Altaussee.
In the context of the Open fields – art and agriculture project, Klement spent several weeks on the Mühlberg-farm (Fischerndorf 28) with the resident farmer Eva Schartner and explored the agriculture of the region and the resulting sound phenomena.
With a total of 14 stations this trail makes the farm in Altaussee, its past, present, and future, as well as the surrounding landscape an audio-experience. The sound installations explore a variety of the region’s facets. For example, it includes an acoustic examination of the region’s most well-known mountain, the Loser, as well as the experience of natural forces such as wind and water.
On top of that, visitors can become active participants in this project by adding their own recordings. All sounds, noises and voices shaping the region Altaussee are welcome. The hiking trail can be visited until the 31st of October 2024.
