The floor painting “Drone Shadow” is a work by artist James Bridle, a British author, artist, and publisher.
Armed drones are used by the US Air Force and the British Royal Air Force both to support ground troops and for targeted killings. The outline drawn in white paint shows the contours of the aircraft on a scale of 1:1, i.e. in its original size.
James Bridle on his project: "There has been a dematerialization of structures. Foucault was concerned with forms of architecture, of the urban. Today, we can no longer point somewhere and say, ‘There, that's surveillance architecture,’ because it takes place in our electronic devices. That's why Edward Snowden's revelations consist mainly of PowerPoint presentations. How can you talk about something that is intangible? I try to make such complex systems tangible."
