Frog Quartet for 36 playing cards, Josef Klammer

Piece each 5,00 €

“Frog Quartet for 36 Playing Cards” by Josef Klammer was created to mark the 2026 restoration of the permanent art project Gartenlabyrinth designed by the Styrian artist Hartmut Skerbisch (1945–2009). Opened in 2007, the garden labyrinth serves as a meeting place and recreational space for residents of the Triesterviertel in the working-class district of Gries in Graz. Media musician Josef Klammer has composed 36 one-minute sonatas using international frog calls from the archive of herpetologist Walter Hödl; these can be played not only as a quartet but also individually by scanning the QR codes via smartphone.
The music forms part of the project “Triester – Hommage à Hartmut Skerbisch”, conceived by artists Martin Behr and Martin Osterider for the reopening of the garden labyrinth.
