TAKING A BATH is a staged audio walk at the Fürstenfeld outdoor pool. Artists Sophie Netzer and Kerstin Reyer invite visitors to join them on a journey through time, exploring the history of local bathing culture. The piece centers on the relationship between people and water, as well as bathing as a cultural practice.

Drawing on historical materials, interviews, and original narratives, the piece transforms the outdoor pool into a stage. 

Equipped with headphones and a towel draped over their shoulders, participants move through the pool area. The pool tells its story, while performers - a group of swimmers and divers - accompany the action.

Staged moments and everyday swimming routines blend imperceptibly into one another. The audience immerses itself in the action and becomes part of the bustling pool scene, while the boundary between observers and participants slowly dissolves.
