Gemeinsam mit Helmut Schäfer brachte Christian F. Schiller 2003 den Uhrturmschatten am Grazer Schloßberg zum Klingen. 20 Jahre später lässt der Komponist mittels eines neuen Werks, das er in Kooperation mit dem Grazer Kollektiv Ach&Krach (Glöckner, Schröck) erarbeitete, diese Skulptur akustisch erstrahlen.

With his L201 project, Alfred Lenz has created an art space in Studenzen on the eponymous Landesstraße 201. Since 2021, various artists and musicians have been coming to this art space to realize their concepts and projects. Various projects were also implemented in 2023.

The emphasis is on educating people about the permanent and temporary art projects that the institute has initiated or accompanied. Historical works of art in public space are in focus as well and questions about their representative function and social interaction are raised.

The project Ecophony – every voice counts. An acoustic soil survey by the artist and composer Katharina Klement has been opened on May 13th 2023 as part of Open fields – art and agriculture. It could be heard and experienced until October 31st 2024.

The art space L201 was further developed in 2022 and hosted three new projects. The thujas next to the art space were removed and replaced with a metal grid wall eight meters wide and four meters high. This wall thus becomes an advertising space or, better said, an alternative to advertising billboards on highly frequented roads.

Scott Clifford Evans & Anna Jermolaewa, Florian Berger and the Total Refusal collective (Susanna Flock, Leonhard Müllner, Adrian Jonas Haim, Robin Klengel) explore growing up in a society marked by crises and work on NEW things with young people. The project was realised in Passail, Knittelfeld and Kindberg.

The Institute for Art in Public Space Styria combines the realms of art and agriculture with this project. It included 12 sub-project of various international artists and artist collectives and just as many farms in Styria.

Protests were often accompanied by slogans and graffiti on the walls and in the streets. A wide range of event formats presents and discusses political graffiti as a form of protest for democracy and human rights.
