Barn-byre, Alpbach

Tyrol

Built: 1769/1880
Year of translocation: 1967

This kind of barn was once common in regions in Tyrol and Salzburg which had intensive cattle farming. The barns were built close to the fields to facilitate the transport and storage of hay. Young cattle were kept in the barn-byre until all the hay was used up.
