Plague cross from Fischbach

Styria

Reconstructed: 1971 (original from the 17th century)

This wayside shrine is dedicated to the plague saints, St Ägidius, patron saint of Fischbach, St Sebastian, St Roch and St Rosalia. It is decorated with pictures of the saints and a statue of the Virgin Mary with the Baby Jesus.Such crosses were once common in the area and stand as a powerful testimony to people’s religiosity and belief.
