Horse stable, Bach near Öblarn

Styria

Built: 1867
Year of translocation: 1977

This notched log stable had an upper storey for storing animal feed, which could be reached by the outside stairs. The steep rafter roof is covered with wooden shingles.

Like in many farmsteads in the Styrian Ennstal Valley, the barn and the stable employ two different types of roof construction, a purlin roof and a rafter roof. The different construction methods have little impact on the shape of the roof, however, and the difference can hardly be noticed from the outside.
