Granary from Schlag near Lorenzen

Styria

Built: 1747
Year of translocation: 1971

This two storey granary is remarkable for its roof construction. At first glance one is struck by the attractive curvature of the hipped roof. Its main function is as a gable side projecting roof which serves as a large rain shelter at the cellar entrance. However, the careful selection of naturally curving, normally seen as crooked when it comes to construction purposes, birch trunks make for a visual treat when looking at the hipped roof construction.
