Drying kiln from Kornberg


Built: 1878
Year of translocation: 1977

The drying chamber is made of logs which are set on a rubble foundation which houses the oven. There are numerous rows of shelves in which apples, pears, plums etc. were placed to dry over a slow heat. At Christmas the dried fruit was used to bake fruit cakes.
