Barn and byre with straw-thatched roof from Vöran

South Tyrol

Built: 1896
Year of translocation: 1966

This barn and byre is unique. Unlike all the other buildings from South Tyrol which have low-pitched purlin roofs, this building has a steep straw-thatched roof. The byre is on the lower level and built of stone, while the barn on the upper storey uses timber frame construction. The barn and byre is located on a slope so that the barn could be entered directly from the road. The barn can also be accessed via a staircase. The steep purlin roof is hipped on both gable sides.
