Barn, St. Nikolaus near Guessing

Burgenland

Built: 18th century
Year of translocation: 1967

The barn is made of roughly hewn logs with notched joints and projecting ends. Gaps between the timbers ensure proper ventilation and prevent the build-up of excessive heat in moist hay which was a common fire-hazard. The building has an old-fashioned cruck roof and is thatched with bundles of straw.
