The Kindermuseum FRida & freD, ScienceCenter-Netzwerk and Universalmuseum Joanneum will be hosts this year to the largest scientific communication event in Europe, bringing leading experts in the field of conveying science and research to Austria for the first time: Graz will be the venue for the 27th annual conference of Ecsite from June 7th to 11th, 2016.
What is Ecsite?
Behind the name Ecsite lies The European Network of Science Centers and Museums – a European platform located in Brussels, which facilitates the general public’s access to technical and scientific topics by means of professional and innovative scientific communication. Ecsite pools some 400 science centres, technical museums, natural history museums, research establishments and similar institutions from around 50 countries in its network. In this sense Ecsite boosts engagement and interaction with science.
The Conference
In line with the conference motto of ‘Colours of Cooperation,” the conference in Graz is the first to be organised by three institutions. It invites you to see for yourself the variety and nuances in the various forms of cooperation. Who do we cooperate with? Why do we cooperate? What do we invest in and what do we wish to achieve with the cooperation? Respectful interaction with one another, discussions of expectations and division of labour require a great deal of willingness to compromise. Cooperation needs time and effort, yet from it emerge synergies and results that could not be achieved alone, or not with the same degree of quality. More than 1,100 participants are expected at this event from more than 50 countries.
