Diversity and the Usual Stuff

On the culture of eating

16.04.2011-31.10.2012 10:00-17:00

Venue: Landwirtschaftsmuseum

Eating is more than pure food intake. As a central component of social rituals, it is integrated into a multi-layered system of cultural actions and values. The anniversary exhibition "Diversity and Unity" explores the cultural development of food and examines "regions of pleasure" and "dining landscapes", especially those of Styria.

Books, TV shows and cooking seminars are very popular - is food today, above all, a fast or slow food "event"? When did you last buy Lebzelter, and how "Austrian" is today's home cooking?

These and other culinary themes are conveyed in a variety of ways at the Agricultural Museum Schloss Stainz - including eye candy; as presented in the exhibition, nutrition was always an important inspiration for the visual arts.
