more...About the exhibition
To this day Peter Rosegger is judged by many to be a conveyor of regional history and witness to the simple life of a farmer. His life and literature cannot be separated, however, from the European and global developments that shaped the period from 1848 to 1918.
The exhibition is devoted to the great themes and radical shifts occurring at this time, presenting Peter Rosegger as an eye-witness to and commentator on the liberation of the peasants and rural exodus, on industrialisation and urbanisation, on the changes in medical provision and education, as well as the emergence of National Socialism.
