Shining a light on a Baroque world

State rooms Schloss Eggenberg

The state rooms at Schloss Eggenberg will be open again to the public from 1st April to 31st October 2012.

Gallant with rose

The piano nobile at Eggenberg never underwent modernization or had heating and electric lighting installed.  Nor have the furnishings been changed since the 18th century. The 24 rooms therefore still look just as they did in Baroque times. Priceless original interiors, wall decorations, historic furniture and over 500 ceiling paintings make up an ensemble of historic interiors of a kind rarely found today. The crowning glory is the magnificent Planetary Room, with paintings by court painter Hans Adam Weissenkircher.
