Identification through participation

  • 22.03.-23.03.2012

Conference and workshop
in cooperation with the Stadtmuseum Hall and the Stadtmuseum Klausen as part of the Interreg project revita alte städte: neues leben

Registration required!

Numerous local and city museums are currently busy reorienting themselves. Many of the new ideas aim to increase the number of sponsors and thus the social relevance of museums. Taking the occasion of the reopening of the Stadtmuseum (City Museum) in Hall in Tirol (A), we would like to pursue the question of how interested townspeople can be involved in the new design and ongoing work of the museum. Looking at the example of locally oriented, small to medium-sized museums in France and the German-speaking world, we will discuss forerunners and methods, theory and everyday practice, and the opportunities for and the limits to “public” participation, which is referred to today as participatory museum work and is in demand everywhere.
