"Digital FRIEDRICH-Archive Styria" - A Data Network of the Landesmuseum Joanneum and the Geological Survey of Austria (Project STC-75)

Abstract: In the frame of a data communications network between the Landesmuseum Joanneum and Geological Survey of Austria a pilot project for a digital deposit/mining archive was started, exemplified by the Styrian part of the so called "FRIEDRICH-Archive" at the Geological Survey of Austria. The digital archive comprises a specific database with 1744 full-text documents and 698 images of scanned maps. This digital archive was also the initial point for a centralised documentation of mining maps in the archives of the Geological Survey in close cooperation with the Austrian mining authority.
