Characterization of Primary and Secondary Mineralizations in the Lead-zinc Deposit of Arzberg (Styria)
by Daniela Reiter & Leopold Weber
Abstract: In the lead-zinc deposit of Arzberg primary (stratiform) and secondary (mobilized) mineralizations are developed. Mobilized veinlike mineralizations have been quite unknown in lead-zinc mineralizations up to now. The main task of this study was to characterize both types of mineralizations. However, there are no significant differences between Pb-isotopes of primary and secondary mineralizations. On the other hand, the secondary mineralization differs from the primary mineralization obviously. Although there are numerous fluid-inclusions in the primary mineralization, none of them are interpretable due to their small size. Main- and trace elements of the primary and secondary mineralization differ insignificantly. Due to the results, primary and secondary mineralizations may be distinguished by S-isotopes only.
