Ergebnisse eines reflexionsseismischen Profiles bei Kalsdorf/Steiermark
by Franz Weber
Summary: A 4 km long reflection seismic profile was recorded by Rohöl-Aufsuchungsgesellschaft in 1952 in the area W of Kalsdorf. The thickness of Tertiary sediments generally increases from N to S from about 850 m to 1.000 m. The gentle southward dip of Base Tertiary is interrupted at Wundschuh by two normal faults of 50 m throw striking in NNW-SSE direction. About 1 km W of Kalsdorf a shallow asymmetric anticline is developed in the Tertiary (Karpat?) sediments which is interpreted as a sedimentary structure; its top lies 150 m below NN. There is horizontal bedding or small S dip (1,3 deg) at least in the uppermost 300 m of the sedimentary cover, while in the deeper parts locally dips of up to 6 deg were observed. These results yield only minor indications of a “Styrian discordance”.
