Exquisite masterpieces from 500 years of European art evoke whole ages, with a wide variety of subject matter. The sumptuous collection spans the period from the Middle Ages to the late 18th century, with works ranging from the “Admont Virgin” via the paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder, Pieter Breughel the Younger and Johann Georg Platzer to “Kremser Schmidt", Austria's last Baroque master.

Opening
Around thirty select pieces from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collections will illustrate the glories of the age in a special exhibition at the Joanneum Universal Museum’s Schloss Eggenberg in 2010.
